M A Muhit has scaled the Mount Everest to be the second Bangladeshi after Musa Ibrahim to achieve the feat.
Foreign ministry director general (external publicity) Shamim Ehsan told bdnews24.com on Sunday Muhit, a member of Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club (BMTC), had reached the summit on Saturday, one year after Musa.
"The Nepalese embassy in Dhaka on Saturday evening informed us of Muhith's conquering the Everest," he said.
BMTC founder Inam Al Haque also confirmed the incident.

MA Muhit becomes second Bangladeshi to conquer the Everest, world`s highest mountain peak, as he reached the summit, which is 8,850 meters above sea level, on Saturday.
Director- General of foreign ministry’s External publicity wing Shamim Ahsan confirmed the success of Muhit to banglanews over telephone.
“MA Muhit informed the Director General, foreign ministry’s South Asia Affairs, Mashfi Binte Shams about the success oof his expedition.
Earlier on May 24 in 2010, Musa Ibrahim conquered the Mount Everest as the first Bangladeshi conquerer.
Though Muhit was the companion of Musa Ibrahim that time, he could not reach Mount Everest due to inclement weather.
Earlier, MA Muhit scaled Cho Oyo, the sixth highest peak of the world, which is 8, 201 meters tall. Besides, he reached at the top of Bijoy Tahjingdong, the highest mountain of Bangladesh, for twice.
MA Muhit received training from Himalayan Mountaineering Institute of India. He surmounted on Chulu West, Meera, Singu and Lobuje peak of the Himalayans.
He also scaled the Mansulu Mountain which is more than 7,000 meters tall.
